A new roller hockey league in Portage is bringing Roller Hockey back to Northwest Indiana. Teams that feature colorful names like The Majestic Unicorns, StoneCutters, Iceholes, and The Muricans meet twice a week at Portage's Inline Sportsplex to face off and have some fun.
The Valparaiso Soccer Club has brought some exciting news to the city! The club, a platform for soccer education in the community, recently purchased approximately 15 acres of land between State Road #2 and U.S. 30 highway off of County Road 400 East and plans to provide 6-9 fields for ages 6 up to adult.
The Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth baseball leagues with the Valpo Parks give the community several league options for youth ages 7 through 15. Valpo Parks strives to maintain a balance between teaching progressive baseball skills, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
Valpo Parks is offering a variety of adult fitness programs that are designed to engage adults at any fitness level. Choose from dance lessons, Yoga, T’ai Chi, or X-Your Size interval and resistance training.

Registration for Valpo Parks 2017 Summer Adult Softball is going on now through March 30. Men’s, Women’s and Coed Softball Leagues for adults 18 years and older and not currently playing High School sports are offered during the summer months.
When the cold and darkness comes to those who spend their time outside what do they do? Runners hop on the treadmill, swimmers dive back into the indoor pools, and some, well, they head down to Florida.
Baseball and Softball skills clinics will take place in January. Coaches and players from the Valparaiso High School baseball and softball teams will instruct the one hour and fifteen minute Sunday sessions on January 15, 22 and 29. Each session reinforces the fundamentals of the game. Baseball meets 4:30 -5:45 PM and is for ages 7 to 12 and softball meets 6:00-7:15 PM for ages 5 to 12. Ages are as of May 1, 2017. Price is $25/$37 depending on residency. Register for the corresponding Valpo Parks 2017 sports program at that same time, and the cost is only $5. Registration ends January 11.
The Valparaiso Parks Department has received another lead gift to benefit Tower Park and build a second signature basketball court that will be themed with the Valparaiso High School logo. The Valpo Parks Department and the Valpo Parks Foundation are proud to announce that the gift is the third in a series of public private partnerships regarding the Tower Park renovation.
