High school students can rocket into science at Ivy Tech
Jul 08 - Jul 12 01:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Ivy Tech Community College Northwest - Valparaiso
High school students will learn to build a fully functional rocket launch controller and launch a rocket to high altitude at the Adventures in Manufacturing Camp this summer at Ivy Tech Community College’s Valparaiso campus.
The camp will take place July 8-12 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Flex Lab on campus, 3100 Ivy Tech Dr. Participants will use CNC machine tools to build the controller and can keep the controller and rocket when camp ends. Cost of the camp is $40. It is one of five Science, Technology, Engineering and Math events happening at the campus this summer.
Before handling machine tools, participants will learn the importance of safety. They then will use the CNC mill to machine the controller, wire up all parts necessary for ignition and send the rocket into flight.
Space is limited to 12 participants. The camp is open to students entering grades 9-12. To register, contact Don Baker, Machine Tool Technology Program Chair, at 219-464-8514, ext. 3013, or email@example.com
