PNW’s annual “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” to be broadcast on Lakeshore PBS
Purdue University Northwest - Westville - Westville
An inspirational message from a Purdue University Northwest Sinai Forum speaker last fall is now the theme for PNW’s signature event celebrating Women’s History Month. Reshma Saujani encouraged aspiring professional women to be “brave, not perfect,” which is also the title of her bestselling book.
At noon on March 27, five alumnae from a variety of backgrounds return to PNW’s Westville Campus to share how their bravery helped break through the glass ceiling. The event, called “Breaking the Glass Ceiling,” is free and open to the public. Lakeshore Public Media is recording the discussion for later television broadcast.
Panelists include Colleen N. Hickman, president of Northwest Indiana World Trade Alliance; Marsha M. King, dean and associate professor at University of St. Francis, Crown Point Campus; Ashley Gerodimos, executive director of the PNW Alumni Community and Strategic Events; Afsheen Mozammel, senior process engineer at DENSO Manufacturing; and Andrea Pearman, president and CEO of Diversified Marketing Strategies, Inc.
“As we celebrate our third anniversary as Purdue University Northwest, we are especially proud of these extraordinary alumnae who are working hard to transform the workplaces and communities they represent,” said Chancellor Thomas L. Keon. “These women are exemplars in business, community development, education and healthcare, and we appreciate their willingness to return to campus to show the next generation what is possible with a PNW degree. The power of women at work is evident at PNW, throughout the region and the world.”
Lakeshore Public Media is partnering with PNW on the event as part of its Lakeshore Professional Women’s Conference.
The event will be held in the Great Hall of the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex on the Westville Campus, 1401 South U.S. Highway 421.
A second “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” event, beginning at noon March 28 on the Hammond Campus in Room 150D of the Student Union Library Building, features Jackie M. Brosius, senior vice president of Northern Trust; Emily Larson, structural engineer at Burns & McDonnell; Kristin Marlow-Kellemen, executive director of the American Red Cross; and Desila Rosetti, president of Organizational Development Solutions, Inc.
