More and more opportunities seem to keep arising for Kouts students as the school has acquired a new athletic director. Amy Evans, a former teacher for the Wawasee School District, has joined the staff at Kouts Middle/High School!

The 2018 ‘A Night in the Secret Garden’ Homecoming was a major success, with students enjoying every minute of the event.
Valparaiso High School recently celebrated Homecoming Week which included many dress up days like neon day, decade day, school spirit day, and ended with the homecoming dance. The theme was Up in Space.

Adrenaline is pumping, heart is thumping; three, two, one - POP! Over 4,000 runners trampled the ground beneath their feet as cross country students near and far participated in the 37th Annual Culver Academies Cross Country Invitational on Saturday September 22nd.
What has happened?
Chesterton High School hosted their annual homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 21st at 7pm at the Chesterton High School football field and the homecoming dance on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7-10pm in the Chesterton High School cafeteria.
Katherine “Katrina” Gootee is a great student. She’s responsible, organized, and participates in extracurriculars while maintaining excellent grades. She has many friends in the high school and is a very kind and respectable student.

“I see myself pursuing a CSI major as a sophomore in an undergrad college; most likely ND or VU.”

“I think it has a lot of great opportunities. I see great things for VHS in the years ahead.”
In Valparaiso, the Popcorn Fest is a tradition. People from all throughout the community come together to celebrate. Community organizations, school sports, clubs, and many others march in the parade down Lincoln Way. People young and old run in the Popcorn Panic and enjoy themselves at the festival to follow.
While there were many new students that have decided to attend East Porter County schools, there are also several new teachers that have joined. Katie Goldbranson, an eager teacher that is elated to begin her career at Kouts, is one amongst the many that have migrated to the small town.
Keep Calm and Pedal On: Valparaiso Night Bike Ride
Ready? Set. Pedal! This past Saturday, August 25th, the Valparaiso Parks Department held their 8th annual Valpo Night Ride. The Valparaiso Parks Department had an overwhelming amount of help from volunteers affiliated with the Washington Township Key Club. People of all ages came to take part in the community bike ride on Saturday. Whether the riders were wobbly toddlers on tricycles, teenagers hanging out after a week back at school, a dynamic duo on a tandem, or experienced cyclists, everyone who participated in this event had a wheelie good time.
What has happened?
CHS Volleyball started its season with a bang. The first game was held Tuesday, August 14 with Varsity and Junior Varsity winning against the opposing team. The varsity team won with scores of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-10 earning them their first victory of the season! Leading scorers were Taylor Bowser, Sammy Deveraux, Lorna Lombardini, and Maggie Vrahoretis.
