Dean Martin Impersonator, Felix J. Deneau Jr. had a sold-out crowd singing along during Memorial Opera House’s presentation of Back to the Dean Martin Show on Saturday night. Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. Director of Investments, Cliff Bryan and his wife Laura, sponsored the night in full. As a result, all proceeds from the night went back to the Memorial Opera House Foundation.
Theatre Northwest, the performance company of the Indiana University Northwest Department of Performing Arts, has announced open auditions for the fall production of A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by guest artist Sydney Chatman.
Open auditions are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 28 and 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at Theatre Northwest, located on the second floor of the IU Northwest Arts & Sciences Building. Parking is free Friday through Sunday and is available at the lot off Broadway between 33rd and 34th avenues.
Auditions are open to everyone. IU Northwest students regardless of their academic major are invited to audition as well as actors from the general community. No previous theatre experience is required.

Friday November 16th was opening in the Valparaiso High School Auditorium; the show runs through Sunday afternoon. Remaining showtimes are Saturday (11/17) at 7pm and Sunday (11/18) at 2pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The 26th annual Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation (NIETF) Gala brought talent from all over the Region together to recognize excellence in theater arts. NIETF, a collection of theatre organizations across Northwest Indiana, focuses on creating a strong community, promoting excellence, and providing entertainment to the Region. The annual gala provides NIETF an opportunity to recognize distinction among the local play and musical performances, direction, and design.
A Chicagoland icon rolled into town on Saturday when Chicago Street Theatre hosted Svengoolie, host of the eponymous horror and comedy program, during their annual Halloween Party. Featuring a meet and greet photo session with the ghoul, plenty of food and drinks, and a production of Chicago Street Theatre’s Evil Dead the Musical. It is safe to say that horror fans around the region had a night to remember.
