Director of Elementary Education Stacey Schmidt - What I Love About Valpo

I love all the great things happening in the Valparaiso Community Schools.

Here's a letter I received today after the student council at Parkview Elementary School had a food drive and donated the collected goods to Banta Feeds

The letter is as follows:

This doesn't happen...

History Behind the PCCF

The Porter County Community Foundation was created in 1996 by a group of community leaders with a vision. They gathered in response to a challenge offered by the Lilly Endowment. Through hard work and generosity, the challenge was met and the Porter County Community Foundation was firmly established.

The Porter County Community Foundation offers donors a unique way to leave a remembrance of their life, values, and family. Donors give through the Foundation; not to the Foundation.

Every year in all 50 states, over a million people come together to rehabilitate homes that have come under disrepair. This project is called Rebuilding Together, and Valparaiso has had an active chapter since 1990. Usually the houses that are chosen for repair belong to those who cannot repair the houses themselves because of physical or economic limitations.

How to Make Ice Cream with Snow

There are days throughout the winter season when kids are home and bored, and need to find something to do with themselves to keep themselves occupied. This is a great time for you to help them make their own homemade ice cream. Keep the supplies on the shelf, and wisk them out on just such days. Everyone will be happy, would be kept busy (so that they don't get bored), and then enjoy a treat at the end, by eating the ice cream that they just made.
