There are only 4 days left in 2017! God has done some amazing things in our church this year. I love being part of a church where people commit their time, talents, and resources to changing lives forever. Our staff has been swapping stories lately; stories you have shared with us about the year. You have encouraged one another; blessed people in our community; mentored kids; showed love to homeless men, women in crisis, and families in need; rescued orphans, helped plant churches, and the list could go on. This is what Bill Hybels meant when he said, “The local church is the hope of the world. There’s nothing like the local church when it’s working right.” Thank you!
In the remaining 4 days of 2017, I want to encourage you to consider giving a year-end gift to Calvary to see lives changed now and into the future. Reaching our budget goal for 2017 means we not only keep our commitments, but we do everything we want to do in our church, in our local community, and alongside our global partners. You can also give to the Even More project; Even More represents our commitment to see more lives transformed in the coming years. It’s not too late to see some of the ways your tithes and offerings are fulfilling the church’s mission at calvaryweb.net/christmas-giving.
Thank you to all our staff and volunteers who served during our four Christmas Eve services on Sunday. All of our services were full, but no one was turned away, although we did need the overflow space all day. Our new building can't come soon enough. Thank you for giving to create room for Even More!
This Sunday come join us for worship on the last day of the year. I look forward to being with you. Let’s follow Christ together in 2018!
Looking for the perfect daily devotional for 2018? Might we suggest Lectio Divina? Here’s why our staff loves Lectio Divina (besides the fact that it’s written by Pastor Lionel):
- It’s flexible. You can read the whole Bible in a year or choose to read a shorter selection of Scripture each day.
- It’s rooted. Pastor Lionel’s daily commentary reveals some of the history surrounding the day’s Bible reading.
- It’s relevant. Every day Pastor Lionel connects the day’s reading to your life.
- It’s convenient. Get Lectio Divina on the Calvary app, online at calvarydevos.net, or in your email inbox. Your daily devotions are always with you, wherever you are.
Check out the Lectio Divina site to sign up and to see sample devotions and resources for your daily walk with the Lord.
Thank you to everyone who has already given so generously! It’s not too late to give a gift to help our church finish the year strong. To be included in the 2017 tax year, your gift must be given or postdated by 12.31, which is 4 days away. Give today.
