Every time we talk with the team at Albert's Diamond Jewelers, we love to get an update on their continued dedication to supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, for which they were inducted into the Hall of Fame for their contributions to the battle against M.S.
Josh Halpern, President of Albert's Diamond Jewelers, explained the history of the auction and why their family has an intense passion for giving back.
“I think this might be the 14th year that we’ve done this auction. We had a woman that used to work for us who was an auctioneer. She knew my mom had M.S. and she said, ‘you should do an auction and I’ll be your auctioneer,” Josh explained.
“That is how it started,” agreed long time Albert’s Diamond Jewelers owner, Fred Halpern. “Right now we’re in the Hall of Fame for raising money for M.S. and the community has taken the cause to heart. We get baskets and baskets of donations.”
The donations don’t only come from the community. Fred notes that about 500 businesses that Albert’s work with in a diamond industry also donate to the cause. There are also many local sponsors that support the event as well. Each year the auction has been increasingly successful.
“We’ve recently crossed the $1 million threshold for the total to date that we’ve been able to donate and our next goal is $2 Million,” Josh stated.
