On Friday, January 31, United States Army Staff Sergeant Eric Chenevare held his reenlistment ceremony at the Top Fuel Cross Fit facilities in Merrillville. He was joined by some of his fellow soldiers, along with his wife and son.
Chenevare will be serving for six more years, making his total years served fifteen. He has applied for special Airborne courses, along with a Special Operations Combat Medic Course and a Civil Affairs Course. Due to the intense physical stress these courses cause, only 66 of 114 soldiers that applied were physically fit enough to be accepted.
Chenevare credited his Cross Fit training for his peak physical endurance that qualified him for these courses.
“Doing Cross Fit this past year is what really prepared me for this,” said Chenevare.
Chenevare has taken his Cross Fit training very seriously. Over the course of the past year, he arrived for his training every day at 6:00 a.m. He put the work in, and it has paid off immensely for him.
“Eric is a really loyal member. He’s here every day at the crack of dawn and puts the effort in,” said Rob Wahlman, lead trainer at the Merrillville Top Fuel Cross Fit. “We’re really honored to let him hold his ceremony here today.”
Eric Chenevare pledged his loyalty and honor to the United States in front of his fellow soldiers, his family, and his trainer. Not only that, he did this at the place that gave him the tools to take his career as a soldier to the next level.
