The Valpo Parks Department is pleased to announce the “Go Baby” Performance Stage is available for rentals this season. “Thanks to Stewart McMillan and the Task Force Tip’s hard-working staff, the stage has been repaired and is available for rentals after being non-operational since the fall of 2017,” said Valpo Parks Director John Seibert.

The Valpo Parks and Valparaiso Pathways Committee invites community members to celebrate National Bike to Work Week by pedaling to work during the week of May 14-18. Community members are also invited to a Bike to Work Event from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18th at Central Park Plaza in downtown Valparaiso. The event will include a free bicycle check by Leo’s Mobile Bicycle Service, the opportunity to test ride a Valpo Velocity bikeshare bicycle, the chance to win fun prizes, refreshments and more!
On Thursday evening, the Valpo Parks Foundation held their 10th Annual Friends and Legends Celebration at the Butterfield Family Pavilion. The event honored Valparaiso individuals and one family for their dedicated volunteerism, contributions, and leadership, but the event also focused wholeheartedly on a promising future.
Summer may be on the horizon, but the city of Crown Point is already gearing up for winter fun. On May 2, preparations for Bulldog Park, an all-seasons event center, were officially announced. Mayor David Uran led the groundbreaking ceremony, inviting residents and local businesses to share in the exciting news.
On Tuesday afternoon, city officials and engaged citizens gathered at what appeared to be nothing more than a construction zone. The event, however, was a groundbreaking hosted by Hammond Mayor McDermott and the Hammond Parks Department, the 4th District Councilman William Emerson, and the Hammond Board of Parks Commissioners. The end result will be on an impressive renovation and revitalization of Edison Park.
It’s been just over a week since the Valpo Parks horticulture crew moved into their new Clifford Property on Campbell Street and the group couldn’t be happier. As a space many of them worked to build, the group is not only proud of the new facilities, but excited to utilize the new space for growing the plants that bring color and beauty to Valparaiso.
The Valpo Parks Foundation welcomes the public to celebrate volunteerism and leaders giving back to their community with its tenth year of annual service recognition known as “Friends & Legends.” Friends & Legends will be held Thursday, May 3 at Old Fairgrounds Park’s Butterfield Family Pavilion. The reception celebrates all who have helped support the continuing legacy of high quality experiences provided by Valpo Parks.
For the fourth year in a row, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company to help fund local park improvement projects across the country through the national “Meet Me at the Park” Earth Month campaign. The city that receives the most nominations will receive a $20,000 grant to improve a local park.
